Q: IS A LEARNER’S PERMIT REQUIRED FOR THE DRIVING PORTION OF THE LESSONS?
A: No, not when you drive with one of our state certified instructor, To practice with your parent/guardian/friend, who holds a valid license between lessons, a permit is required.
Q: WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AGE FOR A LEARNER’S PERMIT?
A: 15.
Q: WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AGE FOR A DRIVER’S LICENSE?
A: 16, after holding Learner’s Permit for 180 days.
Q: DO I HAVE TO GET A PERMIT? HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO PRACTICE WITH IT?
A: If you are 15 Yes, and you must hold it until 16. If you are already 16 or 17. Yes, as you must still hold a permit 180 days before applying for a license. If you are 18+ and have never driven. We recommend that you get a permit so you can practice with your parent/guardian/friend between lessons. This will save you money and move along the process of getting your full license.
Q: DOES A PERMIT EXPIRE?
A: One year after issue. The Permit can be renewed, If expired more than 6 months you would have to retest.
Q: WHO MUST BE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WITH A DRIVER WITH A PERMIT?
A: Parent, guardian, or state certified instructor for those under age 18. 18+ licensed driver. It is preferable to have someone 21+, with a good driving record for the last 5 years in all cases.
Q: WHAT TYPE OF DRIVER’S LICENSE DOES OUR GRADUATE GET?
A: 16 year old, Intermediate Restricted License, 17 year old, Intermediate Unrestricted License, 18+, Regular Driver License
Q: IS AN APPOINTMENT REQUIRED TO TAKE A ROAD TEST AT THE TENNESSEE LICENSE BRANCH?
A: Yes if you are take Individually Hourly Lessons, Our office can work with our students to schedule this test on the state website. If you went through the DTTP (Driver Training & Testing Program), no appointment is needed!
Q: HOW DO WE SET UP A ROAD TEST FOR STUDENTS TAKING INDIVIDUAL HOURLY LESSONS?
A: Approximately 3 hrs will need to be allowed for test prep and testing at Tennessee License Branch in one of our vehicles. Our office can work with our students to schedule this test on the state website. This is generally ONLY for students we have worked with on prior hourly lessons and will be billed at regular hourly rate $75 per hour. ++
Q: WHAT AGES DO YOU TEACH TO DRIVE?
A: We can drive with anyone 15 years old and and up. We have had all ages learn to drive, even someone eighty and several in their seventy’s over the years.
Q: CAN YOU GIVE THE PERMIT AND ROAD TESTS?
A: ONLY the Road Test and ONLY to those who enroll in the 30/6 hour Drivers Education Course. These are State of Tennessee DTTP (Driver Training & Testing Program) guidelines.

A: 15 years and 9 months, But ONLY to those who enroll in the 30/6 hour Drivers Education Course. These are State of Tennessee DTTP (Driver Training & Testing Program guidelines.
Q: HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO COMPLETE THE DRIVERS EDUCATION PROGRAM?
A: A few students can finish in as little as a couple of weeks but most take longer. That is why we strive to offer many class hours to make it flexible for all students and schedules.
We work with ever student individually to help them move through as they can learn and retain the information. We don’t charge extra, the fee is set, so it doesn’t benefit us to keep a student any longer than it takes to fulfill the requirements of the course. For us it is not how fast a students gets through the course, but how much can they learn for the task of driving a lifetime.
The student has 1 year from the date they start to complete the program, classroom chapters and videos as well as the 6 hours of driving, if they intend to participate in the DTTP (Driver Training & Testing Program and test with us for their license.
Q: DOES THE DRIVER EDUCATION FEE INCLUDE THE CLASS, TESTING AND BEHIND THE WHEEL LESSONS?
A: The Drivers Education Class price covers everything. Class, book rental fee, insurance, ++gas, DTTP (Driver Training & Testing Program, and EVEN PICK UP AND DROP OFF FOR DRIVING WITHIN Knox/Blount County area (call for area details). Due to the small number of students starting a new class Driver Education fees are non-refundable
